Many parents who are raising children with Autism have a constant worry of “Who’s going to raise my child if I’m gone” or “what will happen with my child once I’m no longer here?” LOLA Foundation had the honor of meeting Ms. Hong, and her son, who is currently experiencing this situation. We were honored to have been able to donate monetary assistance to suport her and her son. Ms. Hong is terminally ill and her chances to live are slim. Doctors tell her that she should make arrangements for the care of her son in the case that she loses her battle to Cancer. She has no immediate family here and is in the process of signing paperwork to hand her son over to the care of the state. It’s utterly heartbreaking and we both shed many tears.

Ms. Hong is overwhelmed with the generous supporters of LOLA Foundation for their support to her and her son during this difficult time. Below is a portion of the interview where she thanks LOLA Supporters. Please note that Ms. Hong didn't want to be seen on camera (due to her illness), which explains the odd angling of the video. Additionally, there may be a lot of background noise, as Ms. Hong rents the place with another family who has a few children.

(Interview translated)
LOLA Foundation: "Do you want to say a few words to the supporters of LOLA Foundation, that has supported the families impacted by Autism, such as your family?"
Ms. Hong: "I want to represent the families of children impacted by Autism to thank the LOLA Foundation and its supporters. It’s not a matter of the money (being donated), but rather the point that you understand, are concerned, and show support. The parents with children with Autism feel they have others who are in this fight with them, that we’re NOT ALONE in this fight. I thank the Foundation as well as all its supporters for donating to this foundation, and for opening up your hearts."

LOLA Foundation held an event for families and individuals impacted by Autism and we are greatly honored to have the ability to serve this population. It was great to meet new faces as well as to see familiar ones. Through support from donations, we were able to provide the Autism community with a petting zoo, pony rides, arts and crafts, organized activities (water balloon toss and tag) and a splash pad.

Together, the foundation raised a total of $1,171 in product sales and donations. All funds will go straight back to the families for future events. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

Please leave us a comment if you have ideas on future events or ways we can help serve our families better.
